Jewish-Arab Youth Choir in Jaffa Print E-mail

A high point of the 2010 Los Angeles Interfaith Leadership Mission to Israel was attending a concert in Jaffa featuring a Jewish-Arab girls choir. It’s often easy to forget that peacemaking is a grassroots activity performed by ordinary people, and when people come together, they find that what they share in common as human beings far exceeds their differences.

The Los Angeles Interfaith Leadership Mission was beautifully organized and ably led by Rabbi Mark Diamond, Executive Vice President of the Board of Rabbis of Southern California, and Jonathan Freund, Director of Educational & Interreligious Programs, through the Interreligious Action Center of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. The Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faith traditions were represented in the group, providing a truly unique perspective on a land sacred to all three faiths.

In addition to the choir concert, the group learned about two other grassroots peacemaking efforts, both of which are depicted in the photographs on this website: the Givat Haviva Jewish-Arab Center for Peace, and the Ono Academic college Law School program for religious leaders. To learn more about these inspiring projects, click on the “read more” icon below the photographs.

Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem - October 2, 2011

We joined with fellow Christians across the globe as we took time on October 2, 2011 to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We encourage everyone to make prayer a daily part of their work for peace in the Middle East.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper.
